Japan is the Netherlands of Asia…
And a good chance of rain every day for the next week.
This “summer” has sucked. We got a couple of hot days. I never made it into the ocean even though I live a few km from it. It has rained more than any other time I can recall in the last 10 years. Days with little to no sun at all. My fields have been swamps for much of the season.
The alternative is that the few sunny days we’ve had have topped out at 39 degrees.
That’s way hotter than it’s ever been in the past, and hot enough to kill all my vegetables without the rain.
I’ll take the rain.
About a quarter of my carrots and other vegetables rotted from about 4-5cm down because the water had nowhere to go. Several other root vegetables were damaged or lost. My peppers, which is where my farm income largely comes from, are suffering horribly. I can’t take my tractor into the field. Hell, I can’t even walk in right now without sinking to the top of my boots and won’t be able to anytime soon as the forecast is all just still rain.
Shit. Chiba?
I’m in the mountains so the rain always has somewhere to go.
Between Sendai and Fukushima near the coast. I think my fields used to be 田んぼ rice fields in the past so have clay after about 50cm.
