      The iodine tablets in question are for water sanitization, not protection against thyroid uptake of radioactive isotopes. If your immediate water supply runs out, you might need to refill from lakes and streams.

      There’s a dozen or so Soviet-era nuclear power plants and other sites within a hundred kilometers of Finnish border.

      The kit includes strict directions when kids should take them by government order. Useless for adults.

        Its not useless for adults. Kids are just more susceptible, if the supply is limited then kids should go first. Adults still need a functional thyroid!
