Trump sock puppet Warsh, failed to raise interest rates last meeting despite giving a press conference that made every justification to have raised rates. 3 dissenters (4 is record dissents in Fed history) voted to raise rates. With oil and diesel at record highs, and markets anticipating a rate hike… the only rational options are a hike, or the same BS hold while pretending to be serious about inflation.

Ceasing trade with all allies is one way to stop datacenters, though. But it’s also the last thread that keeps the US relevant to rest of world, and cause of putting up with Trump/US.

Good chance that Trump is destroying the US and global economies anyway. There is no other explanation for the absurd chaos he’s caused.

I am loath to instruct Trump, but I can’t resist pointing out that in a hostage situation, one is not supposed to hold the gun to one’s own head.

    Edit: spelling. Loath, not loathe

The US government always has the American people/economy in a hostage situation. It just previously avoided the bad optics of pulling a gun at their head, just so most people don’t know they’re hostages. We also like to think that voting can affect freeing our hostage status.

Trump is literally pointing a gun at entire US economy and American people here. The federal reserve is also a supposed caretaker of American economy, although they have a bankster allegiance. Still there 2 very important reasons to raise rates right now.

      1. it will actually lower 10+ year bond and mortgage interest rates. Gives fed credibility in its inflation mandate, which is too high.
      2. Obscene US debt levels, and budget proposals to increase deficits with obscene/absurd military spending increases is causing a US currency devaluation, and low foreign appetite for US debt. Higher short term (all Fed controls) interest rates can stabilize this decline, again improving mortgage rates.

Housing prices are declining. Both mortgage rates and general inflation are factors. holding rates has made this worse. Lowering rates would collapse the US economy through skyrocketing bond/mortgage rates as a Fed credibility failure before Trump shoots the hostages.

in a hostage situation, one is not supposed to hold the gun to one’s own head.

What you meant by this is that he would damage his approval ratings by shooting the real hostages. As the end of the movie “The Beach” normal people should disapprove after just pointing the gun to their head, and a sane media would not still be humanizing him.

I can’t wait for the day. I don’t even need to say what day exactly. But it will be a great day. I will laugh and laugh and mock anyone and everyone on social media that says we should be respectful.

The USD lost over 10% against the Swiss Franc within 3 months after Trump took office.

Which is why the record stock market gains he boasts about are pretty insignificant for European investors who don‘t use USD outside of investments.

pretending to be serious about inflation

It’s clear the Trump government wants to inflate their huge debt away and don’t really care for who gets hurt as everybody important got a heads-up and moves assets as needed.

He also double downed on tweet in press conference. “Eliminating trade with allies stops them from stealing from us with trade surpluses” as a good idea regarless of interest rates. The significant auto sector factories by Asian/German brands does require some imports from those countries to employ American manufacturing/assembly sector. US brands need Canadian imports. US needs resources and oil product imports.

In his rant against all the enemy thieves US trading partners, he threatened everyone except China.

It would be good/funny on so many levels.

Even if media can’t seem to press him on his decline/derangement (he is on a historic streak of this week surpassing the last week), it definitely should harrass all of his stooges, including those running for election in 2 months, on why they shouldn’t impeach him now if cabinet is too cowardly to use 25th ammendment.

The USA would implode 3 days after trade with China ends (and current inventories are depleted). There is so much about American life that makes no fucking sense if there are no widgets to buy.

NB: A lot of US-made product uses some Chinese inputs, so the aforementioned implosion won’t even be of just Chinese-made consumer widgets but also US-made ones.
