“This reversible chemical reaction we are studying has the potential to increase battery energy density and charge cycles if the reaction proves stable and reliable, and if it can be manufactured economically, but that’s 10 years down the track.”
“Scientists invent new battery that may revolutionise everything from power tools to submarines!”
“New car battery promises 800 miles”
(I hate that one so much. Range depends on how much battery the car has in it, any decent chemistry can get any reasonable number with the right configuration, so the numbers are meaningless and incomparable.)
Also, there’s plenty of technologies better than current Li-ion in capacity, but it isn’t trivial to make a battery, and you need to have it be safe, cheap, long lasting, and able to be produced in huge quantities. That’s why for now, solid state, silicon anode, etc. aren’t everywhere.
That’s like news reports that just say something like:
Scientists discover water is wet, after utilizing $500k taxpayer-backed grant
Which is definitely intended to enrage people who won’t do any further research, or read what the study is actually about, and will instead spread the misinformation and distrust of the scientific community

Like this one. Actual study looked into fish’s reaction to cocaine and cocaine metabolites. It proves the need for human cocaine metabolites to be cleaned from waste management sources before being put somewhere they can reach fresh water sources. Everyone covered it as scientists giving fish cocaine to see what would happen.
And the source profited by people clicking, at the expense of everyone involved.
I believe the biological term for this type of relationship is closer to “parasitic” than it is to mutualistic or symbiotic.
