I think it might be more like a fetus because if we’re actually talking about a biological comparison, edamame is an unripe seed, comparable to an unripe baby in the womb. It only becomes it’s own entity after sprouting. So bean sprouts are vegan veal.
Edit: Eh, on further consideration, I’m still set on this, because the comparison is between adult beef & veal and tofu and underripe soybeans. I don’t think the beans ever sprout when they make the soy milk.
In the sense that their cells are changing and dividing, yes of course. But that doesn’t stop it from being an unborn baby. Fun fact, soybeans are monoecious so they are hermaphrodites that jizz in their own womb. And you eat their babies.
I don’t even care, watch me put bean sprouts in my stir fry. I’ll pile them on my sandwiches and you’ll do nothing. I’m snatching those sprouts away from their sprout parents right in front of your face. I love the crunch when you bite into them.

You’ve CMV. +1Edit: Eh, on further consideration, I’m still set on this, because the comparison is between adult beef & veal and tofu and underripe soybeans. I don’t think the beans ever sprout when they make the soy milk.
I’m good at completely useless thought experiments
You thought. (Sorry, I’m kinda half-asleep.) I still agree now it’s not perfect because the beans are “unborn”, but it’s close enough for me.
Tofu would be like a coagulated fetus mixture that’s had some moisture pressed out
Life begins at pollination, liberal.
