I’m not missing anything. Lower working hours won’t actually become widespread unless the framework is put into place to ensure wages remain at the level paid for a standard 36-40 hour week.
Many work contracts are salaried based on X hours, or straight calculated for x hours of work per pay period. Paying the same living wage for less hours is going to be the biggest hurdle as companies will immediately take the opportunity to “cut” their employees wages.
