Call of Duty devs watching their entire story line sink like a stone
One thing that stands out to me is that in all the videos I’ve seen, there was only one that didn’t target the bridge. I haven’t seen a single video of a ship sinking. I guess they’re just trying to immobilize them to avoid environmental disasters? But where are all those hit ships now? Floating around aimlessly?
Its not easy to pierce a steel hull with a top down attack. Theyll burn and eventually founder, be towed back and rebuilt, or scrapped.
Don’t ships have everything compartmentalized? If the bridge burns down, that fire shouldn’t spread to the rest of the ship, right?
No. Ships do have fire ratings and strong doors, but they’re not the steel hatches with dogs. The main deck exterior might have those hatches for weather, but upper decks and interiors have normal marine doors.
And there are a lot of void spaces and holes in bulkheads for stuff like HVAC, power, plumbing, etc. A fire can pass through those holes, or embers passed to the next room through HVAC, if it’s not shut down.
It depends on the ship, the crew and the attack itself. Fire is an absolutely huge danger on a ship, which means there are lots of countermeasures prepared, but also that its still a huge danger, and not many civilian ships are built anticipating that the bridge might explode without warning.
