The Palestinian group Hamas has announced the dissolution of the body that has governed Gaza for nearly two decades, paving the way for a technocratic committee to implement civilian rule in the war-ravaged, besieged territory.
The move on Monday marks a significant political shift by Hamas, which has governed Gaza since its fighters seized control from rival Palestinian movement Fatah in 2007 after Hamas won legislative elections the previous year.
A Hamas official said the group wished for the swift entry of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a body which is tasked with overseeing the future administration of Gaza under a US-backed plan to end Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian territory.
The corruption is so severe and massive it’s incomprehensible, like peasant revolt bad. But everyone is like “he’s allegedly fairly elected so that’s cool!”

I can’t believe the Board of Peace got the mandate for Gaza. They are absolutely openly corrupt. I expected France or the United Kingdom to issue a veto against it.
I don’t know but I’m feeling like right now the EU is going, “yeah, sure, that’s great, you do that” while divesting from the US in every imaginable way.
At least I fucking hope that is how it is but then again money tends to supersede all principles and ideals so who fucking knows.
As someone living in America, I really hope that the next administration puts these clowns on trial and we make the systemic changes necessary to rejoin the democratic world order. Living under this wannabe fascist sucks.
