    Having a central administrator would kill all the fun - it’s easier to tell what’s an ad than who’s a jerk. A web of trust would be cooler. If you gave me a good rating, then you’d be more likely to see posts by people to whom I’ve given a good rating.

    Plus a cool web thing is an easier sell to potential users than “Oh yeah just download the jerk list, and don’t get flagged!”

      Piefed has a reputation system so that many downvotes from trusted instances - e.g. if hexbear is not defederated from, it still nonetheless does not necessarily have to have a full seat at every table like all other instances - will alert recipients to someone who likes to be controversial. It’s not a filter, there is way provided to block such a person based upon this automated system computed from their received scores, but an icon next to the name let’s you know that an argument with them is likely to leave you disappointed rather than fulfilled. Incels can do whatever they want, but that does not mean that others should be forced into platforming every single thing that they want to say.
