It’s why foreign leaders who try to care about their people are always labeled ‘militia leaders’ or despots, since it’s easier to use thought terminating cliches instead of acknowledging how they’re fighting against the colonialist and extractive “agreements” that are foisted upon them.
The point is to make the “lower class” desperate to survive so they don’t have the means to better themselves and survive without them.
