You mean to tell me suddenly there’s an entire nation of people eating ass??
…is it tasty?
He looks like he should be a side character in austin powers or something
Milei normalized eating ass
For us British people. This is £13 per kg. The average price in the UK for beef is £7.50 per kg.
Thanks.
Too lazy to figure the exchange rate.
this is prime capitalism where people of one of the largest beef exporting country cant afford beef
“Let them eat Ass.”
Argentina get what it deserves. For decades they have been the far right nuts of the Latin world, pardon me, argentinans think they’re European
Pardon my french, but you kinda sound like a xenophobic dick. We don’t deserve the country to fail, no one does. Also, Argentina’s been “far right” for decades? What? I don’t know what you’re smoking but it’s making you pretty delusional xD
I’ve read this “donkey meat” news story several times now on Lemmy and I hate to disappoint you but no, no one is eating “donkey meat” here. I’ve never seen or heard of anyone eating that in my entire life. Everyone I know is eating meat (cow or pig meat btw haha) throughout the week and an asado on the weekend.
Milei’s a dumbass though, and I hope we can get rid of him asap. He’s done a lot of harm to the country.
argentinans think they’re European
What does this even mean?
Whitest country in America.
Argentina fell for western misinformation in western platforms, entirely unsurprising that these things happen when people are exposed to that shit
To be fair the oligarchy tech companies do mass social media manipulation that is basically unchecked.
They do this at the behest of other countries.
I realize we all want to hold people accountable. there is definitely a level of personal responsibility. But it’s worth be aware that mass manipulation is a thing.
It can work fairly effectively.
especially when news and social media is controlled.
Most people are conformist. It’s actually kind of how we as a species have dominated the planet.
Everything that makes us great is also a weakness.
We can make snap judgments. Act instead of letting things happen. Like a lion nabbing us.
We use mental shortcuts and heuristics to do this. The same processes that cause stereotypes and biases. We look to other humans to learn how to do things like hunt, care for children, grow crops. Determine which plants can be eaten. This reliance on learning from others and doing as they do means we accept many social norms without questioning them. And even if a few people do, these individuals are outcast. Conformity is highly enforced in most cultures.
There is also ways of grooming people that are very effective and the methods are well known.
Cults use them. But so do politicians and other leaders like the anti vaccine people and grifters. For instance. The more you hear something, the more you believe it’s true because it becomes “common knowledge”. Which is rarely questioned.
The Tech people and grifters manipulating public opinions understands these things about humans. And they use them.
I just feel bad for the ones not supporting this nonsense.
Argentines are wildly unstable and switch between left and right like a grandfather clock.
As it turns out the first ancap experiment in history is really just neoliberal shock therapy and was always going to suck.
Eat the rich.
choose a clown to lead the government, expect a circus
I swear all you need to be a world leader is a love for fascism and a stupid haircut
Or, y’know, they could start eating more plant-based protein. And kick out their president while they’re at it.
You’re out of touch if you don’t think poor Latin Americans aren’t loading up with tons of beans. Stop putting this north American rich kids who live on impossible burgers mentality to people who are already at the bottom. These people need food not downtown hipster advice
Northern America*, Anglo America*. But yeah, the comment was a little “oh, opportunity for diet ✨”, lol.
Forgot the /s?
I’m guessing they already eat lentils, beans, chickpeas, etc. But this is not only Milei making people poor (that sucks), it is restricting beef which Argentinians probably are very attached to because of their typical dishes.
I get it. Reducing or eliminating beef from our diets can be great (for the majority), but this is not the way we should expect people to get to this lifestyle (against their ability to choose), so it can be a bad moment to mention the silver linings or even good advice like plant-based protein. That’s my opinion; it reads detached of the problem.
Food is of a very high quality in Argentina and most people cook for themselves with only some occasional restaurant visits.
I don’t really feel sorry for people who still get to eat meat, even if it’s from a donkey. There’s plenty of people who survive on nothing more than rice.
And yes, I absolutely think it’s a good thing people are getting used to eating less beef, even if it is due to shitty circumstances. I also don’t feel sorry for people who drive a huge gas-guzzling pick-up truck who can now drive a little less than before or god forbid get a smaller car… Because that is what we can compare beef to: from all the meats it’s one of the worst kind for the environment, and often also for the animals themselves. All this considered, it shouldn’t be a daily staple food but a luxury food imo. So no, I don’t feel sorry at all that Argentinians have to give up that piece of exorbitant luxury. I think it’s outrageous that they’re switching to eating donkeys rather than eating less meat.
They can eat cake, too.
Beans are cake?
Chocolate is beans. Cake is chocolate. Therefore, beans is cake.
Ackchually… the phrase is mistranslated. Marie Antoinette said “Let them eat brioche” and brioche has no chocolate
is raising donkey cheaper per pound?
