The UK has had a Labour party government for nearly two years. Despite Prime Minister Keir Starmer promising that change would “begin immediately”, under his watch the government has continued, and at times intensified, a crackdown on civil liberties begun by his Conservative predecessors. The result is more surveillance, greater potential for police abuse and the criminalisation of nearly all meaningful forms of protest.

The party that ousted all left-wing members under the guise of ‘antisemitism’ is secretly fascist and openly does fascist things?!

I’m shocked! If only there were direct historical comparisons of a nationalistic leader conspiring with a group of ‘reformed’ right-wingers to wage a moral crusade on a left-wing party in hopes to take over and ride that left-wing party’s popularity into power only to commit terrible acts.

Unfortunately this is the first time this has happened in history.

I said it before on reddit and I’ll say it again, Starmer is a fascist in disguise, but the UK has been going down the road of extreme surveillance for decades now. 1984 and V for Vendetta being both based on the UK and its politics wasn’t a coincidence.

The coincidence is that both authors are English?

1984 seems more appropriate for the USA, and V For Vendetta for the UK (or Children of Men).
