I wonder if there is a mix up in our minds between the use of auto-tune to “correct” a voice track and the voluntary use of extreme auto-tune options to create music out of an otherwise bland track (like daft-punk used to do…).

I’m not a musical artist so I don’t know exactly how far auto-tune goes or if you can classify all voice mods as auto-tuning.

I’m no artist either, just a connoisseur. But the moment the voice sounds OBVIOUSLY tuned, it’s meh. If it’s used to correct something slightly, so noone really notices: who cares. Tool is tool.

Taste ist different for everyone, but: why have a singer if you fuck up his voice into something that is not recognisable as a human beeing anymore? Could just use a Keyboard with those effects.

Yup, why even sing in the first place. Let AI do it. Maybe if it’s used so you don’t really notice but made the song better overall. But I couldn’t name an example.

I did not downvote but actually do “like autotune”. It is a way to play with the voice in a way the voice never would or should. Why not?!

Well, AI does that too, does it not? It’s just another tool that helps making music.
