85·1 month agoYeah, I think we’re past that point now. I know the Clicks Communicator has a 3.5mm jack but I really don’t see why. If anyone is thinking about fitting an extra port on their phone I’d sooner see a second USB-C jack.

I’ve used Hostpro in the past. The VPS I used was hosted in the Netherlands but they’re a Ukrainian company IIRC and they have Kyiv as an option. I recall them being fine, nothing special, and fairly cheap.
Do you mean that as in, within reasonable latency of Ukraine? Because if so, Hetzner have locations in Nuremberg and Helsinki which should be useful.

The author of the article seems to be jumping through hoops to make Apple sound good and avoid mentioning the crux of the problem: users have to be informed of what tracking they’re agreeing to - or denying - and once someone gives/refuses consent you’re not allowed to keep badgering them about it, but because Apple’s prompt is so fucking vague and generic it fails at the ‘informed’ point, so the app has to ask again. Apple’s prompt isn’t about empowering users or respecting GDPR: it’s just an interruption that tried to manipulate users into thinking that Apple is on their side.
Right, so that humiliating, grovelling apology they gave didn’t work? Wow, it turns out that appeasement isn’t all that. Who knew?

I genuinely thought JCB was something to do with the company that makes tractors and cement mixers and shit.
It’s not a particularly nice way of doing things, but worst case: if you can add both your old and new accounts in, say, Thunderbird, you can literally drag your emails from your old mailbox and drop them into your new one.
A better option might be to see if whatever software/host you’re looking at supports gathering email using IMAP - that way it can migrate all your existing emails autonomously and periodically scrape your old mailbox for new ones.
