That’s what I do. 2% card with zero fees and no debt on it. Run every possible expense through it monthly and just pay it off.

I will agree that a credit card only really made any sense as I began to finally gain more financial independence. Before then, it was pointless.

The claim is that they are giving you a portion of the merchant fee for utilizing said credit cards.

I’m sure they also make money by selling all your info.

Tons of cards have zero fees. Some offer rewards and benefits at no real cost. I have for nearly a decade used a card with 1% back on purchases and 1% back on payments. Running all my usual spending through that and then just paying it off has net me a lot of money in that time that I just use for statement credit.

It’s easy to dispute charges should I ever need to. Rare since I’m cautious anyways, but the extra layer before my actual bank account is nice.

It has also built up a hell of a credit rating for me as well.

The threes thing is made-up bullshit. Boomer bullshit actually.

They’re called parks and libraries. Give em a try sometime. You can totally just be there. Doing nothing.

Also see: trails, walking paths, riverwalks, nature preserves, university campuses, museums (at least the lobbies), scenic overlooks or viewpoints, benches outside public buildings, beaches, town squares or a plaza, walking down a “main street” or downtown area, lakes, ponds, community gardens, a fucking field.

I have partaken in every one of these before without notice, payment, urgency, solicitation expectation or anything other than just being.

Also there’s shitloads of free community groups for every hobby out there or idea. Especially if you live in or near a decent sized town.

That’s a 2 way street. I will say from experience that not using social media like Facebook dramatically dwindled who will reciprocate by text or email.

Fine by me for my life, but I saw the difference as they all used it more and more and I did not.
